Comprehensive Developmental Assessments for learning, behaviour, and development

Every child develops differently. Our goal is to understand not only the challenges a child may be experiencing, but also their unique strengths, learning profile, and potential.

Our developmental assessments integrate educational, behavioural, developmental, and functional perspectives to provide families with practical recommendations that can be implemented at home, in school, and during therapy.

Rather than focusing solely on diagnosis, we seek to understand the whole child and provide practical, evidence-based recommendations that support long-term learning, behaviour, relationships, and well-being.

Where specialised psychological testing or medical evaluation is required, we work collaboratively with psychologists, psychiatrists, paediatricians, speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, and other professionals to ensure that every child receives the most appropriate care.

Couples & Families

We may support families experiencing:

 – Parent-child conflict

 – Neurodivergence within the family

 – Challenging behaviour

 – Differences in parenting approaches

 – Communication difficulties

 – Emotional dysregulation

 – Changing family roles and expectations

 – Sibling difficulties

 – Stress associated with developmental or educational needs

 – Significant transitions or periods of family strain

Stronger Relationships Begin with Understanding

The people we love most can sometimes be the people we find hardest to understand.

Differences in personality, emotional needs, communication styles, expectations, upbringing, neurodivergence, and responses to stress can gradually create misunderstanding and distance within even deeply loving relationships.

At CAPE, we help couples and families move beyond simply resolving conflict. We seek to help people understand one another more deeply, strengthen emotional connection, and build relationships in which each person can flourish.

Depending on the couple’s needs, we may work together to:

 – Understand recurring patterns of conflict

 – Improve communication and emotional responsiveness

 – Recognise the needs underlying reactions and behaviours

 – Rebuild emotional connection and friendship

 – Develop healthier approaches and friendship

 – Strengthen trust, affection, and intimacy

 – Navigate significant transitions and life changes

 – Understand how neurodivergence may be influencing the relationship

Home & School Consultations

Home and school consultations may include:

 – Classroom observations

 – Home observations

 – Behavioural and environmental assessments

 – Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA)

 – Practical Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies

 – Learning and classroom recommendations

 – Inclusive classroom consultation

 – Individual Educational Plan (IEP) implementation support

 – Parent coaching

 – Teacher coaching and mentoring

 – Collaboration with therapy teams

 – School meetings and case conferences

Practical support where it matters most

Some of the most meaningful insights into a child’s development come from observing them in their natural environments. Rather than relying solely on clinic-based appointments, CAPE offers consultations in homes, schools, and other settings, allowing us to understand the real-life factors influencing learning, behaviour, relationships, and emotional well-being.

During a consultation, we work collaboratively with parents, teachers, therapists, and caregivers to identify strengths, understand challenges, and develop practical, evidence-based strategies that can be implemented immediately.

Because lasting change happens where children live and learn, we believe that effective support should extend beyond the clinic. By working alongside families and educators in their own environments, we help build the confidence, skills, and partnerships that enable children to flourish.

Rather than engaging consultants only when problems arise, our partner schools benefit from proactive guidance throughout the year.

Our goal is simple: to work alongside your school in building confident teachers, supported families, inclusive classrooms, and students who thrive.

Whether you require occasional guidance or ongoing strategic partnership, CAPE provides practical, evidence-based support tailored to your school’s unique needs.
